Have you had those moments when you are growing on your path……and you realize that the friends that you once spent time with are no longer charming to you?
It is a challenging moment on our path of growth when we realize that we need to make shifts and changes within our friendships.
Who we spend time with is an important decision as we can be influenced by those around us. As we develop a strong personal culture and inner radiance, we are able to be with anyone and not be influenced. But this take time to grow into.
When we are on our path of growth, it is helpful to consciously choose who we spend significant time with.
There is a wonderful sutra in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras 1:33:
“Friendliness toward the joyous. Compassion toward those who are in pain, suffering or sorrow. Reverence toward the wise. Indifference toward those who are ignorant or acting in a very dense manner.” (This is That by Anand Mehrotra)
We remain loving, but create distance— so that this denser state of consciousness does not pull us from our path. We create space so as to not be easily pulled into that denser state, not be dominated by this denser state.
And we continue to grow!
Through our yogic practice, we continue to strengthen our inner resilience so that, eventually…. no matter what environment we’re in we remain in peace and radiate Love.
This is the power and embodiment of Yoga.
